At the Samsung Developer Conference held in San Fransisco, the Korean tech giant revealed that they will be updating their SmartThings app in the coming months, allowing users to easily connect Matter-enabled devices to either system. This is a major game-changer for smart home enthusiasts, as Matter is an Internet of Things standard that ensures compatibility between devices from different companies.

This news comes hot on the heels of the Connectivity Standards Alliance, the consortium behind Matter, officially approving the first set of specifications. This means that developers can now apply for certification for their solutions, bringing us one step closer to a truly interconnected smart home.

We couldn’t be more excited about this partnership – it’s sure to revolutionize the way we set up and use our smart home devices. Thank you, Samsung and Google, for making our lives that much easier!”

Samsung is making it easier than ever to control your smart home devices! The tech giant announced that it will be using Matter’s multi-admin capabilities to ensure compatibility between devices across different apps.

Samsung Smartthings App and Ecosystem

Once the company updates its SmartThings app, users will be able to see Matter-enabled devices that were set up under Google’s ecosystem and import them into Samsung’s ecosystem, and vice versa. This means that you can control these devices from either the Samsung SmartThings app or the Google Home app – talk about convenience!
