Samsung Galaxy Note 20 5G Buying Guide
In this Samsung Galaxy Note 20 5G Buying Guide. You don’t need a smartphone. You need a powerful phone. One as beautiful as it is intelligent with a pen that is mightier, a battery that doesn’t leave you hanging and is as well-connected as you.
The Galaxy Note 20 (launch price: $999 in the US) isn’t just a smaller version of the Ultra, as it offers less in many areas. The phone features a smaller 6.7-inch display that’s flat and has a lower resolution and refresh rate. It doesn’t support expandable storage and is made of glass, which is Samsung’s name for glossy plastic. The phone also doesn’t have a microSD card slot, comes with weaker cameras, and sports a smaller 4,300mAh battery.

Fast and Powerful
The Samsung Galaxy Note 20 5G is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865, 6.2-inch AMOLED 120Hz refresh rate display, 12GB RAM, 128GB to 512GB storage options with a microSD for even more capacity, three rear cameras, 4,000mAh battery, IP68 rating, WiFi 6, and Bluetooth 5. The Samsung Galaxy Note 20 5G does not support high band (mmWave) faster 5G networks, but these have limited range and in the current coronavirus situation is not as useful as longer-range low-band 5G networks.

Samsung Galaxy Note 20 5G Review: The Camera
The Samsung Galaxy Note 20 5G has a camera system that’s on par with the best phones out there, except for one part: Samsung biffed it with the selfie camera. 12-megapixel (ultrawide), 12-megapixel (wide-angle), 64-megapixel (telephoto)
The camera bumps this big on the back, you’d expect the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 5G to have an impressive camera system. It does — although the actual photos you get out of it aren’t always great. However, the important thing is that Samsung has largely recovered from the problems that beset the Galaxy S20.

---|---|---|
Main camera | 12-megapixel (F1.8, Dual Pixel AF, OIS, 1.8μm, 79-degree FOV, 1/1.76 inch image sensor) | 108-megapixel (F1.8, OIS, 0.8μm, 79-degree FOV, 1/1.33 inch image sensor) |
Ultrawide angle | 12-megapixel (F2.2, 1.4μm, 120-degree FOV) | 12-megapixel (F2.2, 1.4μm, 120-degree FOV) |

Video capture | 8K | 8K |
The rest of the cameras fare much better. You get three cameras: a 12-megapixel ultrawide, a 12-megapixel telephoto with a periscope assembly, and a 108-megapixel main wide-angle. Let’s take them in order from simplest to most complicated.
Generally, the ultrawide sensor on any phone is the weakest of the bunch, and that’s the case here. However, the ultrawide on the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 5G is better than that average. I’m pleased with the dynamic ange, in particular, which is important for landscapes.
How’s the battery life?
The Samsung Galaxy Note 20 5G Review, 4,500-mAh battery is smaller than the S20 Ultra’s 5,000-mAh battery but lasted much longer during my testing period. I’m not hotspotting for hours during a commute these days or going out from early morning until late night, which makes it harder to compare anecdotally. However, I’d call battery life good, not amazing, and it’ll certainly take you through a typical day.
On my heaviest use days, I navigated with Google Maps for about an hour and a half and spoke on the phone for over an hour with no significant drain. I routinely take two hours of meetings calls while on a walk, without issue. I’ll update this review once I have resulted from our more formal lab tests in New York.
In Conclusion: What We Like
- The design makes the iPhone look boring: Samsung knows how to make sleek-looking hardware. The Mystic Bronze finish on the Note 20 Ultra not only looks elegant but manages to give off a sheen without attracting lots of fingerprints.
- The dynamic 120Hz display is great: Scrolling feels like butter when you have the Adaptive motion smoothness setting turned on. And optimized games like Dead Trigger 2 look really smooth.
- The Samsung Galaxy Note 20 5G’s S Pen feels better than pen and paper: You get a fast 9ms response time and offer a pen-to-paper feel. Scribbling notes on this panel feels completely natural to the point I forget I’m writing on a screen.
- Space Zoom camera is very impressive: I got in very close with the Note 20 Ultra’s 5x optical zoom, putting my iPhone 11 Pro Max’s 2x zoom to shame. And the digital zoom stayed steady up to 20x; it got shaky at 50x.
- New S Pen tricks are addictive: The new Air Actions can come in handy (like drawing a a quick arc in the air to go Home). But they don’t always work the first time.
- Wireless DeX mode and Link to Windows work (pretty) well: I managed to get the Note 20 Ultra to connect to my TCL Roku TV wirelessly and use the phone as a touchpad. And Link to Windows lets you run Android apps on your PC.
You make the best desicision if this Samsung Note fits your needs.
Samsung Galaxy Note 20 5G: Customer Recommendations
Review #1
Finally, I’m back because Samsung offered this no glass back and no infinity screen version!
Love this Samsung Galaxy Note 20 5G – thanks for listening! I switched to the Google Pixel and then iPhone 8 because I absolutely hated how fragile the Samsung Galaxy phones became with the curved infinity screen and glass back!!!
Also. I didn’t think any phone camera could compare to my Google pixel phone, but this phone’s camera is the best. The “pen” is the best invention ever and is even better in this version. It is extremely responsive and I love to be able to capture beyond the text of the screen, so I’m so glad I’m back Because I miss that feature so much. Nothing compares.
Review #2
I came from the Pixel (3XL) family and I don’t want to go back. Google has nothing on this phone. Powerful, excellent camera, a top-notch display, and classy looks. The home screen and an app screen setup is my favorite. Expect some arthritis if you hold your phone a lot (bad habit anyway). There are so many settings you can play around with to make it your own. I purchased the black version of the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 5G, and the button on the stylus is impossible to find and/or hard to push sometimes, but I love its functionality.
Review #3
Absolutely amazing phone ushering in 120Hz Displays.
This thing, the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 5G is incredible! I’ve had Samsung’s since the beginning including note 1 and the original galaxy phones. I’ve only been using iPhones for the past 5 years, but wanted to try this as a daily driver. This is a massive phone and takes some getting used to, but makes it so that you don’t always need a laptop with you. This is probably the biggest you would want to go without carrying a tablet in your pocket. I will include a video as soon as it’s edited and put more into that review but this phone is amazing!
You can easily find the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 5G in retail stores such as Wal-mart, Best Buy, Target, Costco as well as online stores such as Amazon, Ebay, NewEgg, Tigerdirect, Frys, CDW, BPphotoVideo. This phone supports service through all major carriers. Verizon Wireless, AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Metro PCS, Virgin Mobile USA, U.S. Cellular, Straight Talk, Boost Mobile, Tracfone
