Which is better Galaxy Buds Pro VS Airpods Pro? The Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro is a direct competitor to Apple’s popular AirPods Pro, as their name and price suggest.

The question is, how do these two truly wireless earbuds compare, and what do they have to offer you, the consumer, to persuade you to choose them?

Should you opt for Samsung’s new Galaxy Buds Pro or Apple’s well-known AirPods Pro if you’re looking for genuine wireless earbuds?

Let’s compare the two and see what we can learn!

Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro VS AirPods Pro?

While Apple deserves credit for increasing efficiency, the Samsung Galaxy Buds outperform the AirPods by providing 6.53 hours of playback on a single charge. Granted, the Galaxy Buds case only extends the battery life by seven hours, whereas the AirPods case extends the battery life by 20 hours.

The AirPods Pro has an IPX4 rating, which means it can handle perspiration without issue. However, the Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro has an IPX7 rating, which means it can be fully submerged in water for up to 30 minutes. Because it lacks onboard storage, the Galaxy Buds Pro isn’t technically a pair of swimming earbuds. Bluetooth connectivity does not work properly, if at all, when submerged in water.

  • For rich sound and water resistance, this is the finest option.

The Galaxy Buds Pro are the most similar of Samsung’s earbud variants to the AirPods Pro in terms of features. When ANC is activated, they sound amazing and have a strong bass response, but the battery life isn’t as long as the AirPods Pro’s. They also don’t operate as well with iPhones since, unlike previous Galaxy Buds, they aren’t yet supported in the Galaxy Wearable iOS app. Check out our review of the Galaxy Buds Pro.

AirPods Pro Wireless Earbuds

  • The most effective noise cancellation and battery life

The AirPods Pro are a great pair of wireless earbuds with active noise cancellation that work with iOS and Apple devices. They offer a longer battery life with ANC than the Galaxy Buds Pro and support spatial audio (also known as virtual surround sound).

The sound quality is good, however there is no common equalizer to adjust the volume across all apps. With Android phones, you can use the AirPods Pro, but you’ll miss some capabilities like spatial audio and rapid switching.

Apple AirPods Pro versus Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro: Comparison of Specifications

1. Price comparison between Apple AirPods Pro and Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro

You will be paying a lot of money on either pair of earbuds. The AirPods Pro initially launched at $249 and has remained at that price point, though we have seen it on sale numerous times, with prices as low as $199 on some occasions. For the most up-to-date sales and discounts on AirPods, visit our AirPods sales page.

As a new release, the Galaxy Buds Pro will cost you $199.99, which is less expensive and a better value than the Apple AirPods Pro in terms of capability, according to the company. If the price is still too much for your budget, you can take advantage of Samsung’s current sale, which offers the buds for $149.99 when you trade in an eligible device. Remember that big shops (such as Best Buy and Walmart) are renowned for delivering special deals, which may come in the shape of a Galaxy S21 smartphone bundle, so keep an eye out for these offers.

2. Design and Comfort are Important Considerations.

Because of the stem style of the white AirPods Pro, they have become instantly recognized and iconic. Although they include a stem, the AirPods Pro is remarkably small and lightweight, even when not in use.

Users who don’t often prefer the in-ear fit of the AirPods Pro will find them really comfortable with these headphones as well. In contrast to conventional in-ear earphones, which are designed to fit like a pair of earplugs, the AirPods Pro is designed to sit gently and securely in the opening of your ear canal.

The Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro, on the other hand, features a more understated style that few would notice, and they’re available in three colors: silver, black, and violet. Despite the fact that they are nearly as small as the AirPods Pro, they are barely noticeable when you are using them.

The Galaxy Buds Pro are virtually as comfortable as the AirPods Pro, with the exception that they feel more like earplugs, with a deeper fit and a little more pressure on the ear canal. Consequently, they are extremely secure in your ear.

3. The Quality of the Sound

Here, there is no competition: Samsung’s Galaxy Buds Pro sound substantially better than Apple’s AirPods Pro, which is a significant improvement. It’s not that the AirPods Pro sound horrible; rather, Samsung has demonstrated what is achievable at a $200 price range with these headphones.

The Galaxy Buds Pro produces a rich, full, clear, and dynamic sound that, in comparison to the Apple AirPods Pro, appears thin and flat and lacks depth and dimension. With the Galaxy Buds Pro, I have a far greater enjoyment of my music than I do with the AirPods Pro.

I tried all of the different ear tips that came with the AirPods Pro to make sure it wasn’t a fit issue, and I double-checked that I had a proper fit using the built-in Ear Tip Test in the iOS settings to be sure I wasn’t missing anything.

Despite the fact that the AirPods Pro does not include an equalizer, Apple has implemented its own Adaptive EQ technology, which “automatically adapts music to the shape of your ear for a rich, consistent listening experience.” It is consistent, but it is not wealthy. Unfortunately, there isn’t a way to turn off Adaptive EQ to check if it makes a difference in any way. Despite the fact that Spotify comes with its own built-in equalizer, no matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t make the AirPods Pro sound much better.

4. Noise cancellation is a technique used to reduce background noise.

The noise-canceling capabilities of Samsung’s Galaxy Buds Pro are also superior to those of Apple’s AirPods Pro. Another thing to note is that it is not the case that the AirPods Pro has weak noise-canceling capabilities; rather, Samsung demonstrates that it is possible to have greater performance for $200.

To be fair, the AirPods Pro perform admirably in an office or home office setting where low hums and other small background noises are effectively suppressed by the headphones. As soon as you put them in a more noisy setting, such as on a plane or in the middle of a metropolis, the Galaxy Buds Pro demonstrate its superiority over the Apple AirPods Pro.

5. Controls: Apple AirPods Pro and Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro

Apple’s force sensors are the ideal input mechanism for wireless earphones, despite the fact that touch controls are sleek and convenient as well. Getting used to them takes some time, but once you get the hang of it, everything from playing music to turning on ANC becomes second nature. My only gripe is that you are restricted in the number of controls that may be assigned to each bud in the game.

The voice activation capabilities of the AirPods Pro are particularly impressive, as evidenced by the hands-free “Hey Siri” feature, which is particularly impressive. It responds rapidly to orders, has excellent speech recognition, and runs smoothly on iOS and macOS devices, among other features.

With various intelligent controls that take advantage of the larger and more intuitive touch sensors that provide greater accuracy when touching, Samsung’s buds are a pleasure to use. In addition to the ability to select and switch out controls for more useful ones (for example, volume up/down), a range of touch and hold gestures are made available.

The Galaxy Buds Pro, like the AirPods Pro, has an on-ear sensing feature that instantly pauses music when the buds are removed from the ears. The feature works better with Apple’s buds; however, for some reason, when you put the Galaxy Buds Pro back in your ears, playing will not restart.

The fact that Samsung has developed its own artificial intelligence bot and voice wake-up option for the buds (“Hi Bixby”) is commendable; yet, it is unable to compete with Siri. Apple’s voice recognition system is extremely accurate and responds almost instantaneously when activated. I noticed that Bixby had difficulty recognizing its own activation phrase, as well as some voice requests, on a number of occasions.

6. AirPods Pro vs. Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro: Differences in features and applications

No other processor can compete with the total performance that Apple’s H1 processor provides to owners of the AirPods. Its appeal rests in the fact that it can be updated to include newer capabilities with firmware updates alone, without the need for additional software or hardware. Additionally, in addition to seamless iOS integration (such as immediate connection to iOS devices and Hey Siri voice activation), the H1 chip offers a slew of other benefits, such as the ability to share music between two Apple headphones, automatic switching, longer talk times, and the aforementioned spatial audio.

And, if Apple’s track record is any indication, future iOS 14 releases will add even more features to the table.

The Samsung Galaxy Buds Plus are controlled by a Broadcom BCM43015 CPU, which is manufactured by Broadcom. It is currently unknown whether Samsung has developed its own dedicated ANC chip for the earbuds. The following are several fast-operating earbuds that come with their own set of capabilities for Android users, as well as some features that are only available on Samsung Galaxy devices.

The EQ settings, control customization, and one-touch Spotify access are available to everyone who uses an Android device. Samsung Galaxy device owners will benefit from Auto Switch, which pairs the buds with other Galaxy devices instantly, Gaming Mode, which reduces audio lag when playing video games, improved Bixby voice wake-up response, left/right sound balance adjustment, and SmartThings Find, a new feature that detects lost devices on other Galaxy devices and sends a notification to the device’s owner with the location of where the device was last found.

Everything is accessible through the Galaxy Wearable app for Android, which is pretty much everything. Unfortunately, the Galaxy Buds Pro does not support the Galaxy Buds app on iOS, which means that iPhone and iPad users will be able to use the buds but will be unable to change or update their settings.

7. Connections to a variety of devices

Both earbuds have the capability of connecting to many devices at the same time within their respective ecosystems. It is possible to listen to music or watch a video on your Mac while making a phone call on your iPhone, and the AirPods Pro connection will swap seamlessly between the two devices. Similarly, the Galaxy Buds Pro can instantly transition between other Samsung Galaxy products, however this capability is not available on other Android devices, including the Galaxy Note 8.

It’s a shame that this capability is only available in select ecosystems, because some over-ear headphones, which use Multipoint Bluetooth technology, can retain multiple device connections across many platforms. Even yet, there are a couple of models of wireless earbuds that don’t feature any sort of automated switching at all.

8. Water resistance is an important factor.

Another crucial aspect is water resistance, which is particularly helpful when dealing with sweat during exercises or in the rain. The Galaxy Buds Pro are water resistant to IPX7 standards, whilst the AirPods Pro are water resistant to IPX4 standards. Although IPX7 is technically superior, IPX4 should not be a problem when it comes to rain splashes or perspiration.

Is it better to use the Apple AirPods Pro or the Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro for phone calls?

The AirPods Pro are equipped with a decent microphone that properly reproduces the frequencies of human vocalizations. Given that there are no significant disparities in quality between low-toned voices and high-pitched voices, everyone should sound reasonably nice when using the AirPods Pro.

Although it’s unusual to find two sets of true wireless earbuds with acceptable microphones in a single package, the Galaxy Buds Pro manages to do it with a decent microphone. Overall, the output is precise across all frequency ranges, and the modest bass boost can assist you in maintaining the “fullness” of your voice. Although the microphone’s sound may be a little muffled, its overall quality is rather acceptable, and it eliminates ambient noise effectively. But don’t take my word for it: check out these microphone demonstrations for yourself.

Which headphones are better for you: the Apple AirPods Pro or the Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro?

As is often the case when we talk about the AirPods Pro, we implore you to only purchase them if you already own an iPhone. You’ll miss out on a lot of the features that make this expensive pair of headphones worth more than $200 USD if you don’t do so. In terms of sound quality and noise cancellation effectiveness, it is on par with the Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro, which are also extremely good true wireless noise cancelling earbuds.

If you like the sound of all the bells and whistles on the AirPods Pro but prefer a pair of over-ear headphones, the Apple AirPods Max may be the right choice for you. This pair of headphones is expensive, but they have excellent sound quality and the greatest active noise cancellation available on the market.

Our Final Thoughts on Galaxy Buds Pro VS Airpods Pro

Apparently, both variants will be equipped with a new Apple wireless processor, with the Pro earphones believed to be more streamlined in their appearance. According to the rumor, the entry-level AirPods would also have a thinner design, a longer battery life, and interchangeable ear tips, but they will not have noise cancellation.

It’s unknown when the new AirPods Pro will be released, but according to the rumor, the less expensive model might debut in the first half of 2021, if not sooner.

The Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro are a pair of wireless earphones that are among the best available for Android users. If you’re looking for a wireless charging case, the Sony WF-1000XM3 is the best option under $200. However, you’d be foregoing the wireless charging case and the Sony case is fairly huge when compared to the Galaxy Buds Pro’s.
