HOW DO I USE CHROMECAST WITH GOOGLE TV ON A SMART TV?
To use Chromecast with a Smart TV, you must first purchase an external Chromecast, power it, and plug it into the HDMI port on the TV. To set up your Chromecast, select the HDMI input on your TV and follow the on-screen prompts.
We’ll now go into greater detail and answer all of your questions about using Chromecast with a DmSmart TV, including how to set up your Chromecast. Continue reading to find out everything you need to know!
Plug in and Power the Chromecast
The first step in configuring your Chromecast is to connect it to both power and an HDMI port. Chromecast with Google TV includes everything you need right out of the box! Insert the USB cable into the Chromecast and the other end into the power adapter for power. Connect the power adapter to a power outlet.
Make sure the USB side is completely plugged into your Chromecast. Some people believe that the Chromecast does not require a power source to function. They believe power is supplied via the HDMI port, but this is not the case in screen mirroring.
Now is also an excellent time to replace the batteries in the remote that came with your Chromecast with Google TV, android tv, or apple tv, or you can ask the google assistant. as the Chromecast with Google TV is an HDMI dongle and will connect directly to the HDMI port on your TV.
Locate the HDMI port on your TV and connect the Chromecast to it. If your TV has an HDMI-ARC port, I recommend connecting the Chromecast to it. This will allow you to use the google chrome Chromecast and its remote to turn on and off your TV as well as control certain features of your fire TV (such as the volume).
In other words, you’ll only need one remote to control both your Chromecast and your television! After that, make sure your amazon fire TV is turned on and the correct source input is selected. If you aren’t, simply press the input button on your remote until you find the correct HDMI, which will display the Chromecast setup instructions.
Prepare your Smart TV
Turn on your TV and change the input to the HDMI input where your Chromecast is plugged in. Wait for the remote to pair as well.
In most cases, the remote will pair automatically. If the TV screen displays “Start pairing,” press and hold the Back and Home buttons on the remote until the LED light begins to pulse. Once the remote has been paired, choose your preferred language.
Download the Google Home App and Complete Setup
Now is the time to pull out your smartphone or tablet. If you don’t have your phone, you can use the voice remote to set up the Chromecast device. Instead, choose Set up on TV and follow the on-screen instructions. These instructions are based on the assumption that you have a smartphone.
Install the Google Home app on your mobile device. It’s available in the Google Play store here. Or here in the Apple App Store. You don’t have to use the Google Home app every time you use Chromecast, but it makes the initial setup process much easier.
You’ll need a Google account to use the Home app. To create an account or log in, follow the on-screen prompts. Connect your phone to the Wi-Fi network to which you want your Chromecast to be connected before proceeding with the setup! Follow these steps from the Google Home app’s home screen to add your new Chromecast:
- In the top left corner, click the + button.
- Select “Set Up Device.”
- Select “New Device.”
- Select “Create a New Home” or tap your current home.
The Google Home App will then begin searching for your Chromecast. When the Chromecast is detected, the device name will appear on the screen of your phone. Check that it corresponds to the device name displayed in the top left corner of the TV.
Next, scan the QR code on your TV screen by clicking Next. The Chromecast will then be connected, and you’ll be prompted to accept the legal terms before proceeding with the setup. Choose “next” after selecting the room in which your Chromecast is located.
At this stage, your Chromecast should be ready to use, but there are a few more screens to click through for choosing your preferred settings, setting up voice assistant, and your apps.
Setup the Chromecast Remote to Control Your TV
This is an optional step, but who doesn’t want one less remote? Once you’ve installed all of your apps from the previous setup step, Chromecast will prompt you to configure your remote.
It may automatically detect the type of TV you have, but if it doesn’t, you’ll have to go through a few more prompts. The remote can also be programmed to control the volume of your soundbar or receiver.
HOW TO CAST TO Smart TVs WITH AN HDMI PORT?
Those who have an HDMI-equipped TV can set up Chromecast in no time. When you purchase a Chromecast, you will receive the device, a power brick, and a USB cable. To begin, insert the USB cable into the corresponding port on your Chromecast. When it’s secure, you’ll hear a snap.
Then, plug the Chromecast’s HDMI connecter into an HDMI input port on your TV, and the other end of the USB cable (leading out of the Chromecast) into the TV’s USB charging port, if it has one. Otherwise, you’d have to use the power brick, which would have to be plugged into an outlet. It is simply a matter of preference which option works better.
When that’s done, look at the front of your TV for a notification to download an app. This is when you must install the Google Home app on your smartphone. It is available for both Android and iOS devices.
Once you have the app, you must configure it. Check that your phone is connected to the correct Wi-Fi network. If everything checks out, here’s what you should do next:
- Launch Google Home.
- Select Get started. If you can’t find it, simply tap the profile icon in the bottom right corner of your screen.
- Then, locate New devices and tap Create another home.
- Allow your Chromecast to appear. It should be the same as the one in the lower right corner of the TV screen.
- Following that, a code will appear on your TV.
- Check to see if the codes match. If they are the same, select Yes.
- Then you can choose where you want the Chromecast to be placed in your home. Make your selection and then press the Next button.
- You can name the room whatever you want. Continue should be selected.
- Occasionally, it may ask you to connect to your Wi-Fi. Just select it from the list and tap Next.
You’ll now see Chromecast updating on your TV, which might take a while. While it’s updating, you’ll also see the name of your room in the bottom right corner of the screen. Once this is finished, you’ll get a notification that your TV is going to be restarted.

HOW DO I CAST TO MY SMART TV WITHOUT A GOOGLE CHROMECAST?
Chromecast adds many features beyond simply sharing your screen with the TV, but what if that’s all you want to do? How do I cast my screen to mySmart TV?
Both devices must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network in order to cast or share your screen with a Smart TV. The Smart View app can be used to cast your screen to a Smart TV built after 2016.
Apple Airplay and Samsung SmartThings are the two most popular alternatives to using the Smart View app. Samsung has a page dedicated to the various methods, complete with step-by-step instructions, which can be found here.
That said, I still recommend getting a Chromecast. Many streaming apps, including YouTube, Hulu, and Netflix, have screen-sharing capabilities. Google Photos also includes a Chromecast screen sharing feature for sharing photos and videos.
CONCLUSION On Does Smart Tv have Chromecast
As you can see, installing Chromecast is simple. With just a few minutes of your time and the tips provided here, your TV will have a whole new lease on life. I constantly use my Chromecast and highly recommend it.
