BEST SAMSUNG G5 Odyssey Gaming Monitor Review LC27G55TQWNXZA

We have been testing this SAMSUNG G5 Odyssey Gaming Monitor LC27G55TQWNXZA for over a week now to see how we feel about it. Gaming monitors can be a tricky beast to really narrow everything down to a single score. So time is needed to bring out the best thoughts and I think we are there.

Something we mention about many of the extreme curves is that the curved effect will take time to get used to if you’ve never used one (curved screen) before. Some find that after staring long enough, looking off to a flat monitor results in the picture looking distorted for a moment (almost like a reverse fish-eye effect). So for multi-monitor setups, I’d say you may be best keeping them all curved assuming the angle works ok with your setup (desk, how they are mounted, etc). That being said, through time, your eyes should become adjusted and this should go away (if it even happens at all).

Is it worth it to go curved? When it comes to TVs, not until you get around 70″ and above. We find anything smaller than that and you just aren’t going to get much out of it due to the distance. However, with monitors, this is different since you are sitting right in front of it. 32-inches is the sweet spot for curved monitors. 27-inches at the smallest, but your eyes will adjust easier (in our opinion) to a curved 32 in our experience. This monitor fits the slipper and does quite well with this.

We found there to be an ever-so-slightly tint to the image, so you will be spending time within the menu to calibrate it to its best capabilities when it comes to color balance. If you take this seriously, make sure to use the proper graphics/instructions or calibration software to get through the process. You will thank yourself as this monitor has the ability to look pretty nice when finished. For us, we spent less than 5 minutes messing around with the settings until we liked what we saw.

It has all the right features for gaming, from a refresh to 1440p, to FreeSync. 32-inches of the screen helps a lot as well. This is also the best size when it comes to video editing as you get to fit a lot of accessories/panels/tools into one screen while still being able to see everything.
We do like the menu a lot. It features a user-friendly menu to bounce around and make adjustments with. There is no question when it comes to how to operate it and it looks nice as well.

The power cable needs improvement as it doesn’t feel as snug and locked in as it could be. We have seen worse though.

We plan to spend a lot of time in front of this SAMSUNG G5 Odyssey Gaming Monitor LC27G55TQWNXZA, so we will make sure to update if anything else rolls into thought. For what it is though, this is a very nice screen.

As a casual gamer, I really like this SAMSUNG G5 Odyssey Gaming Monitor LC27G55TQWNXZA. The images are clear and are a vast improvement over my 60hz gaming monitor. Going from 24″ to 32″ is a huge difference, and for work purposes, I really like all the available screen space. I had been looking at other gaming monitors of this size (Gigabyte, Spectre) but was hesitant because of some of the comments about dealing with their warranty service. I’m hoping that a name brand like Samsung would be a better experience if needed.

My only gripes are related to the monitor controls, and the monitor stand. It was a little weird to get used to one button but I have that figured out now. At this price point, the monitor stand should be adjustable. It tilts up and down, but mine had a tendency to drop over time. And it is just a little flimsy, and bounces if I bump my desk. I will probably end up buying an adjustable monitor arm at some point.

Overall, I like the SAMSUNG G5 Odyssey Gaming Monitor LC27G55TQWNXZA!  I give it 4.5 Stars for my purpose and needs.  Maybe you have your opinion but it is a good gaming monitor for my needs.
