Samsung¡¯s SIR-60 received the highest rating from BenchMark among 9 IR Dome cameras from established manufacturers, scoring 8.2 of 10. BenchMark is an established magazine in Europe, famous for its dedicated product performance index.
(Extracted from BenchMark) The SIR-60 from Samsung Techwin might be an entry-level camera, but it shares its chipset with the higher priced cameras in the range, so the specification is better than the price tag might imply. For starters, the camera¡¯s colour fidelity is pretty much spot-on, and there is no bias towards either cool or warm tones. Greyscale accuracy is also very good. The camera does not have any adjustability with regard to when it switches, and when set up for optimum performance our unit switched at around 2 lux. Now, whilst that would normally be far too late for most of the cameras in this test, it is actually just about right for the SIR-60. This is because the camera enjoys SSNR technology, resulting in a boosted image which retains detail and colour, and has very little or no discernable noise. When the unit does switch, the IR illumination is even and constant, with no fading or hotspots visible in any portion of the image.
-ABOUT BENCHMARK- Benchmark is the only magazine in the security industry dedicated to establishing a performance index for electronic security products and solutions. It achieves this by group-testing equipment and technologies to establish real-world results.
Benchmark also collates data from previous tests and assessments and uses this information to create its performance index; a feature that allows readers to quickly and easily check performance data about products and components. This information is available in many different formats.
All Benchmark tests are fully independent and are supervised by the Benchmark editorial team. All products are tested simultaneously and with the same supporting equipment. Details of such equipment are given as a part of the test process.
Manufacturers are not involved in the tests, and products for group tests are selected by the Benchmark editorial team, following consultation with installers and specifiers. Because Benchmark is fiercely independent, you can be sure that you are receiving unbiased and honest information. Benchmark Recommended Status is awarded to products that undergo the independent testing process and receive an overall rating of 8/10 or higher. Products which receive this status are then permitted to use the Recommended logo, which illustrates they have passed application-specific testing in the field and have reached a very high standard.
